Winter Plow Operator

The Murray Group has immediate openings for Full-Time Seasonal Drivers for Winter Snow Removal. The winter road season runs yearly from the middle of October until the middle of April or May. Following the winter season, we will have full-time driving opportunities available in our other operations. 

Responsibilities:

·        Operation of spreader, plow wing, combo unit or tow plow in a safe and efficient manner to carry out the clearing of local roads as per the contract requirements

·        Maintaining accurate documentation including but not limited to fuel reports, safety reports and hours of service

·        To maintain/clean equipment as required and conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs as required

·        Housekeeping duties within the shop, lunchroom, washroom, common areas and exterior of yard

·        Operate specialized equipment, including winter equipment, as trained and able, and as required

·        Ability to understand performance requirements of the contract, route map and sand/salt application rate etc.

·        Perform other duties as required and as assigned including field maintenance operation

 

Requirements:

·        Mechanically inclined

·        AZ or DZ license with a clean drivers abstract and ability to drive manual transmission

·        Previous experience in winter works operations an asset

·        Flexible with work hours and long shifts

·        Appreciation for a high level of efficient and quality work

·        Ability to communicate effectively with solid writing skills

·        Ability to work shift work and be on call on a regular basis

·        Able to work in all types of weather and temperatures

·        Ability to operate winter combination units

AZ Driver

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Company Safety policy and procedures

  • Ensure timely deliveries to paving crews

  • Report to various job sites as requested

  • Assist asphalt crews and labour as required

  • Complete CVOR related paperwork / Log Book, Circle Check, Etc.

  • Work on various job sites across Wellington, Grey, Bruce, Perth and Dufferin Counties

 

Requirements:         

  • AZ License – asphalt or gravel experience an asset

  • Must be highly productive, punctual, and reliable

  • Able to work independently with little supervision

  • Experience operating various types of trucks including triaxles, tag-along trailers and live bottom tractor trailers

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, occasional Saturdays

  • Must have own transportation

  • Able to safely operate various types of paving equipment, an asset

  • Able to load and off-load heavy equipment, an asset

  • Ability to help paving crews with labour when required

  • Willing to work in weather conditions that may be adverse (hot/cold/rain)

Licensed Truck & Heavy Equipment Technician (310T)

Responsibilities:

  • The servicing of all company vehicles and equipment

  • Repair light vehicles, heavy trucks and heavy equipment including hydraulics, electrical and heavy power train

  • Shop maintenance

  • Preventative and predictive maintenance

  • Perform service calls and emergency on-road/off-site repairs

  • Daily completion of service documentation

 

Requirements:

 

  • Preference will be given to candidates that possess (sorted by importance)

    • 310T trade license

    • 310S trade license

    • Any motive power trade license

    • Any trade license

  • Valid G license required

  • DZ license considered an asset

  • Road side service experience an asset

  • You will have the ability to diagnose and rectify faults

  • Experience in repairing hydraulic and electrical systems

  • Your own set of tools

  • Strong technical knowledge

  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Willingness to take on new challenges

  • Diagnostic software experience considered an asset

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Enjoy working in a team environment

  • Available to work late, weekends and holidays as needed  

  • Good communication skills

Heavy Equipment Technician (421A)

Responsibilities:

  • The servicing of all companyequipment

  • Repair heavy equipment including hydraulics, electrical and heavy power train

  • Shop maintenance

  • Preventative and predictive maintenance

  • Perform service calls and emergency on-road/off-site repairs

  • Daily completion of service documentation

 

Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Preventative maintenance & repairs of company vehicles and equipment in accordance with Ontario College of Trades apprenticeship Training Standards

  • Shop maintenance

  • Daily completion of service documentation

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • Work/Education experience in transportation industry or industrial settings is an asset, including but not limited to: Automotive Service Technician 310S, Truck/Trailer 310J, Motorcycle Technician 310G, Autobody & Collision Damage Repairer 310B/310Q, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician 421A, Agricultural Equipment Technician 425A, Powered Lift Truck Technician 282E, Small Engine Technician 435A, Marine Engine Technician 435B, Recreation Vehicle Technician 690H

  • Set of tools/willing to acquire

  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Willingness to take on new challenges

  • Diagnostic software experience considered an asset

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment

  • Enjoy working in a team environment
